Yoga Retreats - A Place to Share And Learn The Tenets Behind the Yoga PracticeMuch more than just a modern day hippie holiday Many yoga teachers nowadays, don't have enough time during their classes to delve into the theory of yoga ... Also, often people are not as interested in the theory as they are in the actual physical practice. But yoga is not just about the physical practice of the asanas ... it is far more than that - there is the philosophy behind the practice. Yoga teachers in modern America, do not have the ability to dive as deeply into the ancient and beautiful art as they should. It is a cliché, but only because it is true: in this fast-paced modern life, we don't have the time to sit and relax and reflect on the nature of reality. And the nature of reality is what yoga is all about, after all. Yoga is a way of life. That is why yoga retreats can be so incredibly beneficial. The time you spend at a yoga retreat center or yoga spa retreat is packed with the concepts behind the physical practice of yoga. There is for instance an Ashtanga yoga retreat in Northern California, that is worth mentioning. Particular yoga retreats specific to certain yoga centers are only held say twice a year, and even that can be difficult for many students. Often the strain of taking time off from friends, life, family, and of course work, is more than many people can organize. This is a troubling fact, as often those who need a yoga retreat most are those unable to go due to work, family and life commitments. Yoga retreats help you put things into perspective
The yoga retreat is not only a time to practice the yoga postures intensively under the eye of a knowledgeable yoga instructor, but also a time to understand the practice more deeply. Did you know that you can also go to yoga weight loss retreats and meditation retreats! Really most of the troubling and needy aspects of life are covered at such yoga spas and retreats. At the Ashtanga yoga retreat, there is time to read the yoga sutras and compare impressions and knowledge about the texts. This yoga resort gives you the time and the opportunity to discuss your thoughts and the ideas with other like minded people. Also for the beginner yogi, it puts them in an environment conducive to learning more about the practice. Yoga, after all, is not about the asanas. The yoga poses provide a foundation for the practice, but the practice goes much deeper. At a yoga retreat, you are able to investigate the deeper meanings in a way that you never have time for in your personal lives. Part of this involves intellectual investigation – the sutras can be very difficult and involved texts. But reading them and intellectually understanding them is not enough. You need to have the time to back away from life, to really contemplate them at length and ponder their beauty and inner meaning. I firmly believe that the best thing about attending a yoga retreat is the connections that you make with other yoga students. Often yoga is a solitary practice, but it can be a communal practice as well. Through yoga, we learn about sustaining the world and improving it, one practitioner at a time. The only way to do this effectively is to make connections with other practitioners and students. This way the philosophy of yoga can be shared and propagated. This not only deepens each yoga students practice but allows us to learn from each other. Everyone has something of importance to give and share .... And that is the most profound meaning and achievement of the yoga retreat.
